About Some Guy

Some Guy

Some Guy began his performing career as a teenage rocker playing electric guitars but graduated to the world of acoustic music many years ago.  He's amassed a collection of several fine "real" guitars and seldom plays electrics any more, but the 1961 Fender Jazzmaster that he bought so many years ago still holds a place in his heart and his home.  The Gibson tube amplifier that powered the guitar excesses of his younger days still lives there too, and on rare occasions Some Guy will  "plug 'em in and light 'em up" for the pure joy of revisiting the sounds of his misspent youth.

A "scruffy dawg" outlaw at heart, Some Guy works hard at maintaining the public image of a normal and respectable family man. Along with his day job as a manufacturing engineer, Some Guy also plays guitar and sings with Wooden Bridges, a popular Wisconsin bluegrass band. The darker side of his nature finds occasional release when he performs as half of The Smith Brothers doing country, rock and blues.

When Jackie first met Some Guy he was playing clean wholesome bluegrass and even singing an occasional gospel song. Little did she realize the twisted trails of his taste in music - or how much he loved playing his guitars in dim smoky taverns and singing outlaw country songs about "drinking, cheatin' and sin."

Despite the disparity in their preferences and styles, Some Guy really enjoys performing with "Miss Jackie." Although Jackie is the leader of the duo and officially controls their direction, Some Guy still manages to grab the wheel on occasion and lead them down one of those dark-toned alleys that he so loves to explore.

Irrepressible and unpredictable, Some Guy makes the musical explorations of "J&SG" fun and unpredictable too.
